Position Summary:
101st Street Apartments is a Community Residential Facility (CRF) funded by the Correctional Service Canada (C.S.C) and operated by enCompass Community Safety Agency. The CRF works with high-risk adult males, with various psychiatric disorders and physical disabilities, who are on conditional release in the community, under the authority of the Parole Board of Canada.
The Reintegration Support Worker (RSW) works with clients and their Case Management Teams to provide support, information and access to community resources, programs and services during their residency. The RSW completes client intakes, identifies client needs and assist clients in completing tasks essential to a successful reintegration.
Responsibilities:
- Resource Navigation: Connect clients with appropriate community resources, including housing, healthcare, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, employment assistance, and legal aid.
- Skill Building: Provide guidance and support in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, time management, communication, technology assistance, and problem-solving.
- Interventions, Advocacy, and Support: Advocate for clients’ rights and needs, assisting them in overcoming barriers to successful reintegration. Motivates and encourages clients to acquire prosocial skills, adopt prosocial behaviours and to participate actively in their own correctional and reintegration plans
- Community Integration: Facilitate community connections and social integration by linking clients with community programs and services.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, participating in monthly Case Conferences and Team Meetings
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes. Support clients with applications/forms
Qualifications / Skills:
- Degree/diploma in a related human services field
- 3+ years of relevant experience working with complex, high-risk populations using a client-centered approach
- Experience working with offender populations using a client-centered approach
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the federal correctional system
- Strong knowledge of community resources
- Effective risk management, advocacy in systems, and group facilitation
- General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Professionalism within all aspects of employment, strong leadership abilities and be able to contribute to a strong team environment
- Experience working with and understanding the unique challenges that Indigenous and multicultural individuals and families face, particularly those with significant criminal histories
Preferred Criteria
- Social Work or related degree with 5 years of experience working with the offender populations
- Experience in the following areas: Risk Need and Responsivity, client assessments, strength-based approach, motivational interviewing skills, facilitation, and trauma-informed practices
- Experience working in addictions and mental health
- Experience working in a case management capacity
Conditions of Employment:
- The position is 37.5 hours/week; day and evening shifts, weekdays and weekends, based on client needs
- The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.
- A Clear Criminal Record Check, Enhanced Reliability Check, and Child Interventioan Check are required for this position. A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with enCompass, we evaluate each application for each position individually
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and $2 million liability insurance
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
