About the EFCL
The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) is a not-for-profit organization that connects, represents, and enables Edmonton’s 163 Community Leagues. Our mission is to preserve and promote the Community League way of life by supporting Leagues in fostering vibrant, inclusive communities.

Position Summary
Are you passionate about inclusion and community building? Join the EFCL as our Program Officer – Volunteer Inclusion! In this Canada Summer Jobs-funded role, you will focus on creating resources that empower Community Leagues to better recruit and include volunteers with disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting accessibility and inclusion within Edmonton’s Community Leagues.

Please note that this role is anticipated to be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, so candidates must meet the requirements for this position.

Key Responsibilities
Resource Development

  • Research best practices for recruiting and supporting volunteers with disabilities.
  • Develop accessible tools, templates, and guides tailored to Community Leagues’ needs.
  • Work with the EFCL team to design inclusive volunteer recruitment strategies.

Community Engagement

  • Consult with Community League representatives to understand their current challenges and opportunities in volunteer recruitment.
  • Engage with disability advocacy groups and experts to ensure resources reflect lived experiences and effective practices.

Awareness and Training

  • Create materials that raise awareness about the value of inclusive volunteering.

Administrative Support

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of resource development activities.
  • Provide progress reports and present findings to the EFCL team.

Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements

  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs program criteria, including being:
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age.
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection.

Skills and Experience

  • Interest in community building, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into accessible resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of accessible formats.
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Canva) is an asset.
  • Previous experience in volunteer recruitment or working with disability-related initiatives is an asset but not required.
