Position Summary:

101 Street Apartments is a Community Residential Facility (CRF) funded by the Correctional Service of Canada (C.S.C) and operated by encompass Community Safety Agency. The CRF works with high-risk adult males, with various psychiatric disorders and physical disabilities, who are on release in the community, under the authority of the Parole Board of Canada. Our goal is to assist and support clients in their transition from incarceration to community living.

 

As a Caseworker, you have the opportunity to promote pro-social and healthy lifestyles using various methods including but not limited to, ongoing monitoring/reporting of client behavior, assessing the risks and needs of clients, completing accurate referrals to treatment centers/community resources as required, and assisting clients in the development and implementation of SMART goals. Caseworkers are part of a Case Management Team which consists of a Parole Officer and where applicable, could include Edmonton Police Officers, RCMP and/or Program Facilitators. The Case Management Team’s role is to aid in all aspects of client care in hopes of a successful release.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Agency Policies and Procedures, using a client-centered, strength-based approach.

·       Contribute to the management of high-risk, high-need client base by being a member of a multidisciplinary team; liaise with Parole Officers, Edmonton City Police, and various other treatment professionals.

·       Attend monthly case conferences, unit, agency, and funder meetings, and staff training.

·       Completion of accurate written documentation, data collection/entry, intakes, and assessments

·       Maintain a client caseload, which includes developing a Resident Action Plan, SMART goals, and Relapse Prevention Planning.

·       Regularly meet with, observe, and document resident behavior, progress or deterioration.

·       Maintain file and supervision standards set by enCompass Community Safety Agency and Correctional Services of Canada.

·       Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encouraging, mentoring, and teaching others about the unit’s operations.

·       Program Security including regular security checks, room searches, and monitoring of security cameras.

·       Maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.

 

Qualifications / Skills:

·       Degree or Diploma in the human services field with related experience

·       Ability to understand the dynamics of offenders’ behavior and assess their needs and risks.

·       Strong communication and pro-social relationship-building skills.

·       Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a mental health population.

·       Has a strong work ethic, and high degree of integrity, and takes pride in their work.

·       Completion of a Criminal Record Check. A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually.

·       Clear Enhanced Reliability Screening

·       Valid First Aid/CPR certification

·       Ability to work an on-call rotation.

 

Conditions of Employment:

·       This position is Monday-Friday, with hours alternating between 07:00-15:00 and 15:00-23:00

·       The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $51,000-$60,180 annually.
