from initial employment readiness assessments, career planning, access to training, and supports into
ROLE: Employment and Placement Specialist
 You possess a diploma in Career Development, Human Services, Adult Education, Human Resources, or
possess five-plus years equivalent professional experience.
 You have a Career Counselling Development Practitioner or a Registered Professional Recruiter
designation, or you are willing to pursue one.
 You begin your work with people from a strengths-based approach.
 You use your strong social and counselling skills to build lasting connections, laying the groundwork for
 You believe that tools for successful customer relationships include:
– Discovering the strengths and talents of people and engage them in meaningful employment
– Accepting people where they are and treating them with kindness, respect, and dignity.
– Using motivational counselling and empower people to make their own decisions.
– Listening to client success stories and reinforcing their skills using narrative analysis.
– Inspiring newcomers and immigrants to succeed in the Canadian labour market.
 You are not afraid to pick up the telephone and advocate for people with employers, service providers
and government systems.
 You can create trusting and respectful relationships with local employers to form employment
opportunities for newcomers and immigrants.
 Your resume development skills are exemplary, and you put time and effort into making each resume
authentic, unique, and personal.
 You are aware of your assumptions, bias and perspectives and seek to challenge and explore diverse
approaches and ideas.
 You are not afraid to innovate and create by exploring new ideas to meet the needs of the newcomers
and immigrants best.
 You are results-orientated and desire to improve or optimize consistently
 You embrace continuous learning and development.
