enCompass Community Safety Agency
For over 75 years enCompass has provided holistic services and wraparound supports that address the root causes of crime and social disorder. By focusing on reintegration, acceptance and successful outcomes, we are building a safer, more harmonious community. We do this through release planning, housing support, employment transition, education, substance recovery, cultural supports and more.
Ed(men)ton Project Summary:
Terra Centre for Teen Parents and enCompass Community Safety Agency are working together to create an inclusive collaboration of organizations that provide services to men. The project will create awareness of the supports that exist for men and increase opportunities for men to access coordinated and barrier-free services to strengthen their mental, emotional and physical well-being.
There are few coordinated resources for men. Evidence shows this segment of population is struggling. These struggles create negative ripples throughout families, society and through generations. Services in Edmonton for men seeking emotional and mental health support are fragmented and difficult to identify or access. Ed(men)ton believes that when men are supported in a proactive way to be better parents and intimate partners, families, communities and society within the city of Edmonton are strengthened.
Position Overview:
The Ed(men)ton Project Coordinator will play a key role in creating and implementing practical strategies to engage diverse communities and enhance services designed specifically for men. This position calls for a proactive and culturally aware professional with hands-on experience in project management, community outreach, and building strong partnerships. The primary focus is to foster meaningful connections, improve service delivery, and promote programs that address men’s unique challenges in areas like mental health, wellness, and social inclusion.
Job Conditions:
Ed(men)ton is a 2-year term-based project that will end March 31, 2027. This is a full-time (35 hours/week) position with flexible hours Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to best meet programming needs. This position will be mainly working out of Terra Centre located at 10320 146 ST NW.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with community groups, local organizations, government, and other partners to identify the needs and priorities of men in the community.
- Facilitate focus groups, workshops, and community meetings to gather insights and feedback on existing services and unmet needs.
- Strategy Development:
- Design and implement strategic plans to improve and expand services for men.
- Identify data, community feedback and opportunities for partnerships and collaborations that can enhance service delivery.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate and oversee the project aimed at strengthening men’s services, ensuring timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, preparing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Advocacy and Awareness:
- Develop and distribute educational materials and other communication tools to engage and inform the community.
- Represent Terra and enCompass at events, forums, and conferences related to men’s services to Promote awareness of issues affecting men, such as mental health, employment, social isolation, and access to resources.
- Capacity Building:
- Lead the research and creation of content that will add capacity to organizations serving men and inspire relevant learning for men across Edmonton.
- Provide training and support to staff and community partners on engaging and working effectively with men.
- General leadership responsibilities:
- Be a leader and ambassador of both Terra Centre for Teen Parents and enCompass by practicing in a manner that is consistent with each organization’s mission, vision, values, and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, community development, or a related field (Master’s degree is considered an asset).
- Proven experience in project coordination, community engagement, or program development.
- Strong understanding of issues affecting men, particularly in the areas of mental health, wellness, and social services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report writing to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Familiarity with culturally sensitive, indigenous worldview, and trauma-informed approaches to service delivery.
- Knowledge and experience in practicing within community-led, data-informed, equity-based-person-centered, and trauma-informed principles frameworks.
Mandatory Conditions of Employment:
- Clear (or Executive Director approved) Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, completed within 90 days prior of start date. Renewed every 3 years.
- Clear (or Executive Director approved) Intervention Records Check, completed within 90 days prior of start date. Renewed every 3 years.
- Current Standard First Aid with Level C CPR, renewed every 3 years.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), renewed every 3 years.
- Reliable vehicle, with 1 million vehicle liability insurance, when driving for business purposes.
- Valid Driver’s License, clear (or Director approved) Driver’s Abstract, current vehicle registration when driving for business purposes.
- If applicable, documentation of registration as a Social Worker as per provincial legislation.

Compensation: The starting salary for the position is $60,000 – 62,857.
- Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution. Staff have three weeks of vacation, and, in addition, the agency is closed between Christmas and New Years.
- Terra Centre also offers free onsite or street parking depending on office location. We are also a casual business attire organization.
